Duwamish
Longhouse & Cultural Center--Over one hundred years ago the
last Duwamish Longhouse was burnt to the ground to chase out Duwamish people
from their land. We now have a place to shout “WE ARE STILL HERE” The longhouse
itself is a very beautiful and sacred place for us and we will use it to tell
our story and those of other native people. We hope that you will find our
series entertaining and enlightening. There is no performance space like it
anywhere and has a capacity of approximately 200 people. This is our first
series and we will follow it with a Spring/Summer series and a Summer/Fall
series. The Duwamish Longhouse and
Cultural
Center will be open Monday through
Saturday 10am to 5pm and we will give tours to those that come. We also have a
gift shop featuring items made by Duwamish tribal members and friends of the
Duwamish. We have offered a wide variety of things to come see and take part in
and welcome all to come learn the history of your home.
