Walking Native Land; National Trails Day

Join us for a hike through our native land! Ken Workman, a descendant of Chief Seattle, will talk about his personal experience and the Duwamish experience of the land on Puget Ridge above the Duwamish River.  The hike will begin at the Chinese Garden at South Seattle College, 6000 16th Ave. S.W., then head down the ridge to the Duwamish Longhouse and Cultural Center on W. Marginal Way, then loop back up the ridge.  Parts of the trail are unimproved and near the road edge on W. Marginal Way, so wear good hiking shoes and be prepared to overcome small obstacles such as logs and light brush.  This walk is hosted by the West Duwamish Greenbelt Trails group, www.wdgtrails.com.  Learn about our efforts to create a "Duwamish Ridge to River" trail.
