Duwamish Ecotours are back again! These tours are open to the public, they are free - donations are always welcome! Come tour through həʔapus Village Park and Shoreline Habitat and learn about the history of the land, river, and the connections to the Duwamish Tribe.

The Duwamish Tribe’s ecotours program was created to increase knowledge & understanding of the River’s significance to Duwamish history and culture, as well as to recruit and train our members to be active environmental stewards of the Duwamish River. By elevating public awareness and comprehension of the Duwamish Tribe and our cultural and historical ties to the River, we encourage non-tribal Seattle residents to become educated and involved as active stewards in restoration and protection of the Duwamish River.

The Duwamish Tribe’s indigenous territory includes the modern-day city of Seattle and much of Greater King County. Today many of the current occupants of Duwamish land know little-no history of our Duwamish people or our land.

Our ecotourism program currently consists of a 1 hour guided, walking tour in a couple of locations with more types of tours and locations to come. Right now we run tours at həʔapus Village Park and Shoreline Habitat, a historic village site on the Duwamish River just across the street from the Duwamish Longhouse and Cultural Center.

If you join us for a tour, we will focus on the ecological, cultural and industrial history of the area, all of which center around the Duwamish Tribe’s ongoing roll as land and water protectors.
